Welcome 2009 - Welcome to the fight.
Hey guys,
I've been writing this post for a few days in a row, for i guess this is my most important and significant post to date.
No ramblings about my journey here, but the social activist perspective for 2009.
Not great year forcast in any areas of Human Rights, Animal Rights or Environmentalism. The main culpruit is the factions of capatalist all around the world; sparked by the trigger happy politicians and jadded intrepid economist of the day.
The world is poorer, the number of people dying for stupidest reasons are escalating, one unique species of animal goes extinct every 20 mins (i am crying for the Philippines Eagle right now) and do i even have to mention about the amount of natural forest and ecology are being desecrated at this very moment you read this?
The buzz in the Activist World: they are still keeping their spirits and wit about them, but the dark cloud hangs above. I just read a report on the impact of the economy will cause social workers. Headline reads as follows:
The Economic Crisis Will Lead To A Social Assistance Crisis
Now guess what that implies....
Think of a storming river running wild down a valley.... (Economic Crisis)
Imagine the valley has many bridges and Homes ( Social Initiatives and Social Activist Organizations)
All the villagers can hear the impending roar of the waters crashing down the valley at an incredible pace. They sit and still plough their fields and continue fishing, instead of running to a safety (like most rich people ae doing this very moment) cause they know there is nothing they can do to stop the waters, and they understand the bridges still need tending and people still need to be fed.
So guys, around the world, everyone is rejoicing the herald of 09. Not me. I sense a dark cloud, i sense an urgent call in my soul. I feel the cold approaching in my bones and i am preparing for the fight of my life.
This is what i have designed pathway for. This fight, for the warriors, for the true activist. Soon, circumstance will seperate the men from the baboons. I am now a baboon. What are you?
Anyway, i'm keeping this short, cause i think it's time... enoughtalk....
So you with fire in your hearts and love in your bones....
Gather some courage to do some real work.
But it's entirely up to you...
A question.
Out of 10, rate your activist level as of now.
You know what to do....
FUCK IT!
Awake from your slumber!!!
Let's get going!!!

Money Stems Evil?
26th, a joy to behold. A transition into the stage, making my name, and brilliant opportunity to reflect of all i had done for a quarter of a century, and what more is to come for the next.
My cycling trip was nothing short of amazing. To have my skin carressed by the wind, and with music (aahhh music, the best companion i could have) and pumping amino acids into my legs (i was really tired), i've rediscovered my keen sense of wonderment.
Ohh how joyous and childlike it was to cycle at, i dont know, 60km/h downhill from kent ridge park, and screaming my lungs out, at 11pm in the night. (I did it three times!!!) I can only imagine, when i bungee jump, or sky dive, hell, even terrain crossing in a jungle. I miss it...
Upon my reflection, ive discovered someone else...myself. My love for myself. For all the many grinding bumps i had for the year, ive had made out alot for myself. Ive somehow, deep within, and touch my aura, and held it in my hands. Beautiful, sublime, ive manifested myself into an orb, and i couldnt take my eyes of it, and i was in love again. My biggest biggest growth, was to love myself again....
I have thought alot about what next year is about, and whats my milestones will be like..(look out for the next post, ''Dream up a Year'' ) and yes dennet, i am writing another one soon. Before u know it.
I was thinking about money, and as uncanny it is, Dennet, glad you touched on it.
I was reflecting back to the age and how the powerful has affected the choices.
There are so much philanthropic work around the world, and yet, has something significant really changed? Maybe except we know that global warming is real?
Who puts in the biggest impact, Activists (Green Peace)?, Leaders (Ghandhi)?, Businesses?....
Go with me on this...
Once upon a time, it took leaders to make and shape the countries, and impact in societies, ...now there are none.
If you look at the number of high profile philantropic works, it comes from the businesses. Bill Gates, warren buffet, name anyone, they must have done it one way or another.
Activists..and i mean the green peace, PETA, where are they? I am sorry if i sound ignorant, but do they have much money?! What is their impact? Where is the growing fondness of these group of people, compared to Bill, Warren? (They are my friends now)
Look at overly paid footballers, why do they get paid ridiculous amounts of money, ...for entertainment?? Do they make a better growth for society other than entertainment...compared to ummm...Teachers, heck, Gardeners. I dont know,
I know one thing, there needs to be a shift in the way, the value of money is in tangent with the value it contributes to the world. The time for Bill Gates and Warren, is here now, and Gandhi, is a thing of a past...activist will always be there, somehow...IF only, we cram all of them together as one being. Now thats a thought.
Love u all.
I love u dennet
I love u chan liang
And Jared, since your reading this, I love u
Activist Music: Dispatch
This week, i want to highlight a literally unknown band this side of the hemisphere.
Dispatch has been on the Activist forefront since it's inception in the hallways of Middlebury college in Vermont in 1996.
I let the music speak for itself.

Pathway is all weather.
Finally some time and space to really write, It's been quite hectic here in Tacoma; Seattle. Spending time with the part of my family i rarely experience, brings back many childhood memories. Not all of them good, mind you.
Being in the mountains, (Crystal Mountain to be precise) having a couple of hours just to roam and spend some quiet time, looking at the wondrous landscape, with my face cold and sprinkled with the heavy fall of snow, my body warm with the numerous layers of thickness and the light slowly dimming, i climbed. The air thinning, my unfit body pushing my blood pressure and working my lungs to an uncomfortable level i neared the top...
The view spectacular, my breath taken away. A quiet serenity took over and I thought of Pathway. What it represents and what the journey entails. It's like climbing a snow covered mountain face. The journey daunting, the demands limitless and the effort paralyzing. But when conquered, i think of the path we beat and soften for the next, i think of the invaluable lessons learned from the climb, the cherish breath we all so often neglect for it is life we forget to appreciate and honor. It is not a waste.
I am humbled by my fellow journeyman, Kelv and Chang Liang. For your will is my resolve and your dedication is my inspiration. A solid future and a propelling desire to serve, cause no dissidence but a new sparkle in my eye. Even though i am away, i still carry the mission in my heart and the practices my daily routine.
A question opened up to me the other day.
Maybe you can help me...
Does an Activist need money? I mean a sizable amount to make a significant difference in which ever cause one fights for? I know it is a resource, but i am bent to think it has been the main focus on many who, choose this path. Take for example the many activist of today who pursue business and philantrophy as the solution for today's ills.
But here in the States, (i dare say the birthplace of modern activism) the opportunity to live simply and within a limited means provides a safety net for activism to thrive, especially here in the rural areas. Environmental activism is a powerful force, and i understand why. The region here is luscious and the people love the outdoors. From skiing to hiking, whole economies grow just by a simple law of supply and demand. This coupled with enlightened love for the nature is a powerful measure of what is possible. I have come across many successful campaigns, many green organic farmlands and Socially Responsible businesses. I am amazed and inspired to take back what i am learning, and inculcate the habits, choices and initiatives these people have so passionately caused.
I do not see why, we in South East Asia cannot do the same. I understand the obvious and apparent excuse; poverty and cost of living besmirches our ability to express our love for our land and brethren. The sick drive just to simply survive creates greed and a jaded world view. How we help each other at home, is almost non-existent. Do you even know your neighbours names and jobs? We live in an environment where "what you earn is what you keep". Where ideals are replaced by efficiency. Traditional media plays a vital role in encapsulating us, causing mindless, entertainment junkies looking for quick reality show fixes, adults who are encased in the economic dribble and the material fetishes - lead us nowhere. So how can we, just 3 individuals rise up and demand change........................?
I don't really know.
But i think that's the beauty of it.
With love, here in Seattle.

Cl - Post Pictures of your work in Vietnam...
Life's lessons
This trip to Vietnam has been nothing but a real, and serious slap on my face. Everytime I travel for my mission trips out of Singapore, I awaken to new insights about myself and the World. This is no exception.
Having confined myself to the safe and protected bubble of this Singapore society, I have lost touch with realities of the World. While videos and images are at times close to real, and disturbing, nothing comes close to being face to face and thrown into the deep ends of this gigantic World.
I realize the minuteness of myself, despite constant denial by the ego, and I came to understand that this universe is so vast I'm like an atom in the grain of sand wanting to change the world. What concrete impact, or change, can I alone inflict in this timeless cosmic plane, where we humans are but just an onlooker?
This is nowhere a statement of resignation. Rather, it's a reflection that attachment to fame, name, fortune, wealth, power or recognition bears no weight at all. What remains timeless is the resolution to live deliberately, to focus on the journey instead of the end, and to constantly be in criticism of myself in order to love all. What a liberation, and what an exciting journey ahead.
Through the last 5 days, I have had real intense experiences. It's almost like a final test that life is giving me for this year, having grown so much over the last 12 months.
The trip brought me into real close contact with my father, and a constant battle of being aware that he's looking, and doing the things which I wanted to do. It's a trip which I believe has brought us closer, and I for the longest time saw him smiling, dancing, and playing with the kids.
The greatest one of all would be receiving a statement of 'I love you' from my brother. It so reaffirms who I am to him, and who he has been for me.
And sorry guys, I got my exam results yesterday and it is far from satisfactory. I only got 3.5, which is a B grade. I must get my 4.5 next semester in order to pull the overall grade up to 4.0. It has been a big slap on my face, and a test of my mettle, of how I handle this and how I would make a comeback. I'm sure I will.
That's all for now. Lastly, I want to really appreciate the both of you for being such an integral part of my life, giving me your authentic words which only serves to lift and raise me up. I don't know what I did to deserve to have such friends in my life, because you really are a step above most people. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
From the bottom of my heart, you are my hero!

I stumbled into a great website of an Organization called "Alliance for a New Humanity"
Two things you should note.
1. The message of the welcome show.

Pathway Song of the Week
Who love's GreenDay?
I DO!!!!
They've been rocking out with punk messages for more then a decade and have inspired countless rallies and charity initiatives.
The song: American Idiot is no exception.
An anthem aimed at the "Subliminal Mind Fucked Americans" who just watch TV and follow the
status quo, whilst being exploited and bombarded with nationalist propaganda.
But it's not just an American Problem is it? Aren't we part of this media controlled populous?
So make up your own mind.
American Idiot

Remembering my flow.
Dudes, I'm loving both your writings. Jesus, do you guys even know the amount of insight and wisdom your words has brought all who have read them? i am so very proud of you guys and i know i am walking with greatness and i am uplifted.
But now about me.
Being an "activist", what a concept...
How can one man be defined by such a term?
Should we even confine our existence using such an ambiguous notion?
These are the questions i have been grappling since Monday.
But time eludes me, to much to clear up before i leave for snowy Seattle, where Christmas, Family and the union of the Krishnan Brothers will be held. The herculean effort to ensure all work is handled and self-sustaining has had an immense draining effect. (At least i can sleep now.)
But it just goes to show, how fragile my existence and all that i have built is. Just a few weeks away, all could collapse, all that i have control upon, might be dismissed so on and so forth. My gripping fear of losing a hold of everything, has opened up my eyes in remembering what is true.
Nothing is everlasting, everything i own will leave me. Nothing is meant to be kept and nothing is suppose to be considered as precious. All things flow, like how all thoughts flow. So enjoy the flow. What has been a burden a few days ago, was just to help me remember this journey's purpose.
To live simply, to live my deepest desire.
So what it means to be an Activist.
I won't tell you.
I will show it to you.
so Shhhhh.....
Let me flow.....
